It sure doesn’t look like it’s Christmas in about two weeks, but all these pictures was taken today. As my Christmas holiday is pretty early this year, I suddenly had time to visit this abandoned school just before every school in the country close for Christmas. In this case, the school never opened again. And it has been closed for about eight years. Every plan for what to do with it has been scrapped, as the building just isn’t possible to use because of moisture and rot.
The school was used for pupils in 8th to 10th. What surprised me, was that it looked kinda like an elementary school because of the paintings on the wall, and the lack of a proper office area for the teachers. If they had one, it would have to be the cellar, unless we missed something (which don’t seem likely). I couldn’t find the construction year, but I know that it became a middle school in 1960. This kind of abandoned buildings is hard to find in Norway, and I’m pretty happy that we managed to get in at all. As far as I know, this is one of the only abandoned schools in Norway that still isn’t demolished or reused. Since December is one of the darkest months in Norway, I struggled to get good pictures with the lack of light.
Anyway, here it is:
What does it say under the thing you blurred away?
It’s the name of the place 🙂 Better keep it secret!
Righty-right! Appy-polly-loggies. Nice blog anyways.
Thank you! 😀
